Right now, early April, Flowering Currant is blooming around the north redwood parks. The genus is Ribes. One of my favorite indigenous plants.

The locations I spotted these at recently, were around Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, and a few around Bald Hills Road above Redwood National Park, past Lady Bird Johnson Grove. These Ribes shrubs provide weeks worth of color.
