The image below shows some Oregon Spikemoss near the Mill Creek trail in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. This is not a moss, but a plant … Selaginella oregana. It can also grow on trees as an epiphyte.
One description I found said that the fine stems can hang down up to 60 centimeters (about 24 inches). But I’ve measured some in the coast redwoods almost 48 inches (120 centimeters) in length.
I have not spotted this in Prairie Creek redwoods yet.
