Redwoods in Stout Grove

"Hyrule" grove

Redwood National and State Parks

This coast redwood is called Hyrule after the land of Hyrule in the game Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time

Personally, I do not believe in magic, but if there's a grove where I'd loosely use the figure of speech "magical", this would be one of those.

Hyrule is a few hundred feet from the confluence of two small tributary creeks. It is one of a circular group of coast redwoods surrounding a large expanse of sword fern. There is hardly any sorrel in the midst of the ferns except around the big trunks.

The expanse has the feeling of an arena as if some special event is ready to happen. In a way, the special event exists. It has been and continues to be the amazing growth and life of these redwoods ferns, planted by the hand of God. This is one of those spots in the redwood parks where I could spend an entire day.

The man in the photo is Chris Atkins, one of the two men who found the 2006 world's tallest tree discovery in Redwood National Park.
