Westridge Giant is the 13th largest known coast redwood (2010). Located in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park down a stretch of Westridge trail. A stocky 244 foot tall redwood with a 23 ft. dimater dbh trunk that holds 29,541 cubic feet (2010). This one grows on a relatively flat area of forest floor rather than a slope or creek bank. It is rarely spoken about among redwood enthusiasts who look around the parks for for various titan size redwoods. It may be because the big burly base is hidden by lots of shrubs. The men in this photo are from Archangel Ancient Tree Archive, the ones who clone tissue from larger redwoods for propagation. They were only out in this park that day to see the world's tallest hemlock and we detoured to show them this redwood.
