Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park

This is Yogi Bear. If you don't see him, tilt your head right and look again. The coast redwood Yogi Bear grows in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park within a mile of Simpson Reed Discovery trail. Maybe 1000 feet from Hy. 199 on the opposite side.

The fern is Leatherleaf Fern and the shrub with fine leaf texture is Red Huckleberry. The foreground trunks are Douglas Fir.

When I speak of champion photography locations in the redwood parks, this exemplifies just what I mean. Champion subjects in the redwoods can be a challenge to find. When walking around in the forest, it can all look gorgeous. But locations that lend some ease to composition are not around every corner.
