Basically, if weather is overcast or foggy, the redwoods are feasible to photograph sunrise to almost sunset. If the weather is sunny, it may be worth checking the big trees out early morning when the lighting is better, or fog is burning-off and sun rays beaming through.\u00a0 Anyway, I found that the city of Eureka often affords some entertainment for food and photos.
