So to play it safe, I applied for a research permit to go off-trail, tape-wrap diameters, and laser measure height; new finds and re-measures. Later, I may also apply for a photography permit for extra aspects of photos in the redwoods.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently there is a greater chance of being fined now if a permit is not obtained for certain activities. This includes some photography, some off-trail activity and data collection. This is partly why I updated my Grove of Titans page.<\/p>\n<p>Later this month, I will reapply for a permit to cover January 2014 to December 2014.
