2017 \u00a0saw\u00a0scores of hyperbola, opinion and fact\u00a0pertaining to climate, change \u00a0and redwoods. \u00a0After hearing both sides, it was apparent nobody can predict the future. But a few tried and fear was a common thread. Personally, I would like the old growth redwood forests to\u00a0last forever. But realistically, the future is unknown.<\/p>\n

Therefore, what is the most indisputable evidence we have available? Climate change today\u00a0is merely a repetition of past, except it’s \u00a0a drop in the bucket compared to\u00a0historic ages of\u00a0the past. “Mother Nature” has killed, destroyed and erased \u00a0more species and coast redwoods than any logger \u00a0on record. She is the heavyweight champion that knocked down more redwoods and destroyed more burls than any\u00a0human can imagine. \u00a0So why haven’t\u00a0environmentalists condemn \u00a0mother nature the way they have done to loggers?<\/p>\n

If we pay close attention to history and maps, mother nature has virtually wiped-out the coast redwoods which used to grow elsewhere in the United States and parts of Canada, Asia and Europe. People today point the finger that 95% of remaining old growth coast redwoods were cut in the 1800s and 1900s. But mother nature already took the title belt, leveling 99% before the Roman Empire arrived on the scene.<\/p>\n

So if mother nature is so good and wonderful, and her plan is erasing coast redwoods, doesn’t that make loggers her medal-winners and Save the Redwoods her enemy? Because only one side is going against what mother nature has been working on for so long.<\/p>\n

Much of what I just wrote is Devil’s Advocate. But not entirely. What I want to expose is some\u00a0human nature where people become so affectionate of their surroundings, \u00a0they would oppose natural forces and change to the end of going bankrupt. In other words, mother nature will continue great and dramatic changes even if we didn’t exist. People who don’t accept or realize this truth will cause great headaches for society. This reality is why extremists will \u00a0collide with an immovable brick wall at some point in time.<\/p>\n

It’s more honest to agree that\u00a0coast redwoods should be preserved because we like them a lot. They are beautiful, we enjoy them and the trees are undoubtedly spectacular. Redwoods also serve benefits. So if this forest can be preserved by moderate methods and reasonable costs, that’s a good plan. But if humans completely close their minds to nature’s power to change the planet, they will probably cause plenty of unnecessary conflicts.<\/p>\n

Sea levels have changed. Ice caps and thickened and thinned. Mountains have risen and eroded. Dinosaurs appeared and vanished. Change is real. Opposing change entirely must boil down to\u00a0selfishness, ignorance or fear.<\/p>\n

The final note … appreciate what’s available and take care of it, but don’t step in front of mother nature.<\/p>\n
