The big critters below are Roosevelt Elk. I see some about every other visit to the Coast Redwoods, but could find them every visit if I really wanted to. Between Deer and Elk, I see one or the other about 7 out of every 10 visits through, say, Redwood National Park or Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. These Elk also gather in herds or small groups around Redwood Creek by Orick,  Hy. 101 between those 2 parks just mentioned, and south of the Orick Kuchel Redwood Parks Vistior Center. Just to name a few places.  If you would like to find them, one place to ask is the Prairie Creek or Kuchel visitor centers. See my main redwood page from the top menu and follow links from the table. Another, and possibly better place to ask, is Redwood Adventures in the area. They really seems to stay on top of sightings.
